Apple iPhone 12

iPhone 12

Specifications

Due to the extreme rise in the popularity of iPhones, and all other Apple products alike, over the years, any Apple release is largely anticipated with lots of detail.

One main specification that has people excited is the A14 processor that Apple is producing. It has been suggested that this is the first processor used in a smartphone operating above 3GHz and is based on ARM architecture (ARM stands for ‘Advanced RISC Machine’). All of this together means it is likely that the new iPhone will be a very fast device.

Next, another key point for the performance of this phone is that it will have 4GB in RAM in the regular model and 6GB in RAM for the Pro model.

In terms of storage, specifications based on leaks suggest that there will be different ranges available for different models in this release. Therefore, those buying the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will have the choice between 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Whereas, for those more interested in the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a minimum option of 128GB with the continuing availability going to 256GB and then up to 512GB.

The final confirmed specs are that this year, Apple will produce their new models so they’re able to support 5G. Additionally, in terms of their camera quality, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will have dual rear cameras. But, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will have triple rear cameras with LiDAR. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) refers to the method used to measure a distance by using laser lights to illuminate the target.

Release Date

Due to Covid-19, this release has been delayed from September which is the usual time of year that Apple release their new phones to market. Currently, it is believed that the release date is set for October, with the pricier models not coming out until November.

Price

At the moment, there’s no official pricing for these new products, however, it has been estimated that the price range is likely to be between £679 and £1449. But, clearly this will not be certain until much closer to the release date.

Rumours

Currently, it is expected that Apple will be releasing four new phone models but in three different sizes. The name predictions for the moment are iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max, with two of these sharing the same size.

In terms of the sizing in relation to each model, it is rumoured that the iPhone 12 will be 5.4 inches, with this being the smallest sized screen since they released the iPhone SE in 2016 (that was 4.7 inches). The next size up is 6.1 inches, and this is shared between the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Max. Finally, the largest size they’re rumoured to be releasing is the iPhone 12 Pro Max at 6.7 inches - this will also be the largest phone that Apple has released.
